My Bio

Me: 40 Boyfriend: 34 Trying to conceive for 6 yrs (since June 2003) Problems began when started my periods at 12 and was finally diagnosed with severe (stage 4) endo & dense adhesions at first lap in 1988 when I was 19. I was taking the pill for 18 years (from 16-34) and 15 of those I took the pill 3-6mthly to help prevent endo returning so quickly. I also have a bicornuate/septate uterus as well as having had polyps, uterine adhesions and a fibroid removed at varying times. I've had 6 x lap/dye + hysteroscopies (most recent in Mar 09 to remove active endo and cyst) with extensive surgery - at varying times had endo cysts removed from both ovaries, ovaries and their tubes glued together & then all stuck to pelvic wall, bladder and womb adhered together, endo on bowel & puch of douglas plus damaged sluggish tube. As well as lap/hysteroscopies, I've had an HSG, a cystoscopy & LUNA (laparoscopic uterine nerve ablation) performed. I had 2 early miscarriages in 2005 (naturally conceived) and have since been diagnosed with blood clotting and autoimmune disorders: Antiphospholipid syndrome (sticky blood), Low Activated Protein C and raised Natural Killer Cells: prescribed 75mg aspirin, 40mg clexane & 20mg prednisolone (high possibility that I will now require IVIG during IVF treatment to suppress NKCs) I was prescribed 6mths of clomid in 2005 to "boost" (ovulate naturally but meant I released more eggs !) Subsequently had......... March/April 2006: 1st (IVF) ~ 21 follicles & 10 eggs ~ 6x grade 1~ 2 transferred but negative.........July/Aug & Oct/Nov 2006: 2nd & 3rd (natural FET ~ frozen embryo transfer) ~ both resulted in chemical pregnancies (very early miscarriages).........Apr/May 2007: 4th (IVF) ~ 28 follicles & 19 eggs (risk of OHSS) ~ 5xgrade 1, 3xgrade 1-2 ~ another negative (6x frozen embryos)......Oct/Nov 2007: 5th (IVF) ~27 follicles and 16 eggs(slight risk of OHSS) ~ 1xgrade 1x6cell, 1xgrade 2x8cell + assisted hatching (others taken to blastocyst but didn't survive) ~ can't believe another negative and totally gutted......Mar/Apr 2008: 6th (IVF) ~ 40+ follicles and 30 eggs collected (high risk of OHSS) ~ 14 embryos on day 3 and went for blastocyst transfer ~ 2 x grade 2AA and 2 BB embies transfered but yet another negative result....heartbroken doesn't even get close ! Other embies didn't make it so no frosties. We've still got 6 snowbabies but we're booked to have another fresh IVF in October 2009 which will involve all the steroids, anticoagulants to prevent miscarriage plus trying intralipid transfusion for the first time. I also had another natural conceived early miscarriage in July 2009....first time conceived naturally in 4 years....We will not give up ~ we will be a mummy and daddy !

Hi Natasha, seen your experiences on a couple of posts now and just wanted to message you to say how much of an inspiration and how brave you are. My husband and I are just waiting to start our first cycle and hope that we are just as strong and determined. I'll keep everything crossed for you and I'm sure we'll all get there. Hope this doesn't sound too stupid and naive coming from someone who hasn't even started IVF yet.

    Hello,
Thank you very much for replying to my request for advice regarding IVF treatment and the effects on the endometriosis. I really appreciate your insight and the detail you provided, which I have found very useful before my appointment.
I really admire your determination and optimism, which I must admit I lack sometimes. I wish you all the best and please keep me informed of how you are doing.
    Thank you once again,
    Very best wishes,
    Heather x
